It has been one of those weeks at the Doggie day care centre, when one day its really warm and the next it is cloudy and cold. All the dogs luckily dont seem to mind what ever the weather is doing each day. Just as long as they can come and spend the day with their friends and dog walkers at the Esher doggie day care centre.
All the Esher Dog walkers had a bit of homework this past week. We wanted them to each come up with a new and exciting activity for the dogs to do or play at doggie day care. The dogs all arrive each morning after a short drive from Esher, Cobham, Oxshott and London and are all full of energy. We want their day at doggie day care to be more than just an ordinary dog walk in park. Having two five acre, securely fenced fields for the dogs to run around and play in is a real treat, but we want the dogs to be also mentally stimulated through out the day.
One of our dog walkers came up with a great game of getting strong scented toys and then hiding them around the centre in the patches of long grass. The dogs would all be shown the scent and then the dog walkers would take them on a long walk and it was amazing to watch the dogs use their noses and sniff out the hidden treasure.
Another game that is a real winner with the dogs is toys for the pool, that both float and sink just under the surface of the water. The dogs all love swimming and splashing around in the pool. It makes it even more fun when they have things to fetch and look for things in the water. The Labradors and spaniels are especially talented when it come to finding toys in the pool. For the smaller dogs the Esher Dog walkers put the shallower paddling pool outs and they had a great time jumping in out with their treasures.
